Counseling for life transitions in The Woodlands, TX
A new baby. A career that ended, or one you're starting over. A marriage that changed. A faith you're questioning.
Big changes can shake loose questions you didn't know you had. You don't need the words for it yet.
When who you were doesn't match how you're living
"Who am I? What am I doing?"
Maybe you look fine from the outside. But the person you thought you were and the life you're living have drifted apart, and the gap is getting harder to ignore. That's often a sign that something important is trying to change.
Transitions I help with
Any season that rearranges your life
Becoming a parent
Or a role at home that isn't what it used to be.
Career change or loss
Job loss, burnout, or starting over.
Relationship changes
Separation, divorce, or a marriage that shifted.
Faith and religious trauma
Leaving a religion, questioning what you were raised in, or the fallout that follows.
Identity
"I don't feel like I used to."
Moves and milestones
Moving, retiring, grief, any big season.
How we work through it
We start with what's in front of you.
The decision, the loss or the change, and then we follow it to what's underneath. Structure where it helps (CBT, ACT, solution-focused work) and room to think out loud.
Some sessions will be uncomfortable. The aim is to come out the other side feeling more like yourself, not just getting through it.
Faith, belief and religious trauma
When the faith you were raised in stops fitting
Leaving a religion is rarely only about belief. It's family dinners that got tense, friends who stopped calling, a community that held your whole calendar, and a sense of who you are that was built on something you're no longer sure about. People often call what's left religious trauma.
You can talk about it here without being argued back in or pushed further out. No agenda about where you land.
To be clear about what this is: this is therapy for people leaving or questioning a faith. It isn't faith-based or Christian counseling, and I'm not here to restore anyone's belief or to talk them out of it.
Walk and talk therapy
Walk and talk therapy in The Woodlands
Therapy doesn't have to happen in an office. For some people, sitting across from someone makes it harder to say the thing. Walking makes it easier.
After we talk about it first, we can meet somewhere you're comfortable and walk during the session. Same hour, same work, just outdoors.
Sessions in The Woodlands and Spring, online anywhere in Texas, or outside when that fits better.
Common questions
Before you reach out
How do I know if I need therapy for a life change?
If the change keeps showing up in your sleep, your temper, your relationships or your sense of who you are, it's worth talking about. You don't have to be in crisis.
Do you work with people leaving a religion?
Yes, and it's one of the transitions I'm asked about most. I don't have a stake in where you end up. My job is to help you work out what you actually think and what it costs you either way.
Is this faith-based counseling?
No. If you're looking for a therapist who will work from inside a particular faith, I'm not the right fit and I'm happy to point you elsewhere.
What is walk and talk therapy?
A normal therapy session that happens on a walk instead of in an office. We agree on the location and talk through privacy first. Some people find it much easier to open up side by side than face to face.
Do you only work with men?
No. My focus is anyone going through a life transition or disruption, and I routinely work with men in that space. Therapy is tailored to the needs of each individual.
Do you see couples?
Yes. If you're going through a change together, we can work on it together.
Where do you see clients?
In person in The Woodlands and Spring, and online anywhere in Texas. I also see clients from Conroe, Tomball and Houston. Walk-and-talk sessions are available after we discuss them.
