About Peter Moore, LCSW-S

I'm Peter, a therapist and the founder of Panda Therapy, a private practice in The Woodlands, Texas. I work mostly with people going through big life transitions and disruptions, many of them men, and with anyone who's ready to do some real work on what's going on underneath.

Why I do this work

In Peter's own words

Peter to write: two or three sentences. Why life transitions? Why so much work with men? What got you into social work? This is the part I can't write for you, and it's the part people read most closely.

How I work

Calm, laid back, and honest with you.

The relationship comes first

Above any technique. You don't have to like me. You do have to be a little curious, and so will I.

Calm and laid back

I read the room and match your energy. Swear, make a dark joke, say the thing you've never said out loud. None of it will surprise me.

Feel it, don't just name it

A lot of people can tell me they're angry. The real work is getting to what's underneath and actually feeling it.

Real tools

Mainly CBT, along with ACT, solution-focused and person-centered therapy in the tradition of Carl Rogers.

The whole picture

My social work training means I don't only look at you. I look at the life around you: your family, your work, your community.

Counseling for life transitions

Most of what I do sits here: the seasons that rearrange a life, and the person you become on the other side of one.

Walk and talk therapy

Walk and talk therapy in The Woodlands

Some people talk more easily side by side than face to face. If an office makes it harder to say the thing, we can meet somewhere you're comfortable and walk during the session instead.

We agree on the location and talk through privacy before we start. It's the same hour and the same work, outdoors.

Available in The Woodlands and Spring after we discuss it.

Why the relationship matters

One therapist, every week, who knows your story.

A lot of therapy today is built for scale. Apps match you with whoever's available and lean on texting. Insurance can limit who you see and how many sessions you get, and it requires a diagnosis to keep paying. Some people do fine with that. Many of the people who come to me tried it first.

What I offer is someone who can gently call you on things when it helps. It's not a quick fix. It's a place to do the work.

Who I work best with

People willing to be uncomfortable for a while.

In order to feel more at peace in their own skin. Odds are, there are things you haven't felt you could talk to anyone about, and I get that. If you want someone to tell you you're fine, I'm probably not your guy.
